Xander Schauffele clinched his second golf major of the year with an incredible final round of 65 at Royal Troon Golf Club in Scotland on Sunday. By winning the Claret Jug and the 2024 PGA Championship, Xander jumps to No. 2 in the Official World Golf Rankings. He now becomes a real contender against Scottie Scheffler for Player of the Year.
Before this year, Xander had never won a major golf championship. However, this year, he’s been on fire on the golf course. He has finished in the top-10 of all four major golf championships this year. Besides his two major victories, Xander placed eighth in The Masters Tournament and tied for seventh in The U.S. Open. Xander has a total of nine wins in his young career.
Reflecting on his journey, Xander stated, “It’s a dream come true to win two majors in one year. It took me forever just to win one, and to have two now is something else.”
As the reigning gold medal winner in the Olympics, Xander will now focus on defending his title at the Paris Olympics next month.
